I am an excellent singer in my shower. The acoustics are perfect. My favorite holiday song is Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas. I love the part where the words are:
Through the years we all will be together If the fates allow Hang a shining star upon the highest bough So have yourself a merry little Christmas
I hope the fates allow for you to be with your cherished ones this year and for many years to come.
I am kind of bummed the holidays are coming to a close for 2018. I didn't get any baking done, yet. I still have 2 days. My mom didn't really have any holiday traditions from her side of the family. My mom was Welsh and the only traditional dish I have had is Welsh Rabbit (cheese sauce over toast). My dad was Italian and thankfully there are some excellent traditional dishes. My Grandma DeSanti always made pizzelle cookies or a honey covered one we called dunkers. Hopefully I will get busy tomorrow and make some cookies.
Our family tradition was to open presents on Christmas Eve. I think this came about because what kid wants to open presents Christmas morning and then leave the presents to go to church and then to Grandma's? Screaming children any morning is unpleasant especially when they really they do have something to scream about.
This year I gave my family toys for Christmas! I am pretty excited to open the presents and see their reaction. Growing up it wasn't a perfect Christmas until somebody cried with joy over their present. Every year somebody cried. My friends and I exchanged our presents today and guess who cried? Me! Earlier this year I went to Santa Fe and Tucson with my friend and her mom and met up with her Aunt, Uncle and cousins. We took lots of pictures and she made me a book with them. It was so thoughtful, a great present and a beautiful reminder of an excellent vacation. It is a joy to spend time with family and friends.
Here is a card I made for you, just a little holiday hug. Hopefully it will remind you that there are people hoping your day is filled with kindness and joy. I want each of you to make a special memory this year. Merry Christmas!
